Would they argue with useless words, with speeches that have no value?

Would they argue with useless words? Would they give worthless speeches?

Should he argue in unprofitable talk, or in words with which he can do no good?

The wise don’t engage in empty chatter. What good are such words?

But you smear me with lies; You are all worthless physicians.Oh that you would be completely silent, And that it would become your wisdom!

But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment.For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a sick craving for controversial questions and disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,and constant friction between people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

“ I have heard many things like these; Miserable comforters are you all!Is there no end to windy words? Or what provokes you that you answer?

Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

“ Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the Lord.“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against You?’You have said,‘ It is pointless to serve God; and what benefit is it for us that we have done what He required, and that we have walked in mourning before the Lord of armies?So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up, but they also put God to the test and escape punishment.’ ”
