We put our lives in danger just to get some bread to eat. Robbers in the desert might kill us with their swords.

All we can do is to wait in fear for God to judge. His blazing fire will burn up his enemies.

No matter how many years anyone might live, let them enjoy all of them. But let them remember the dark days. There will be many of those. Nothing that’s going to happen will have any meaning.

They are driven from light into the place of darkness. They are thrown out of the world.

The day of the Lord will be dark, not light. It will be very black. There won’t be a ray of sunlight anywhere.

That day will be dark and sad. It will be black and cloudy. A huge army of locusts is coming. They will spread across the mountains like the sun when it rises. There has never been an army like it. And there will never be another for all time to come.

When you farm the land, it will not produce its crops for you anymore. You will be a restless person who wanders around on the earth.”

They were weak because they were needy and hungry. They wandered through dry and empty deserts at night.Among the bushes they gathered salty plants. They ate the roots of desert bushes.

“ The lamps of sinful people are blown out. Their flames will never burn again.The lights in their tents become dark. The lamps beside those who are evil go out.

Some were killed with stones. Some were sawed in two. Some were killed by swords. They went around wearing the skins of sheep and goats. They were poor. They were attacked. They were treated badly.The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains. They lived in caves. They lived in holes in the ground.
