「智者豈會用空談作答，滿腹東風？

『智慧人哪可用虛空如風的知識來回答，用熱東風去充滿自己的肚子呢？

智者豈可以虛識為對、以東風充懷乎、

寧有吸凄風、吐支辭、而得為哲人乎。

智慧者豈以虛辭而答、豈使東風盈其胸懷、或作豈以虛辭而答乎使東風盈於懷豈得稱智慧人乎

Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

“ Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, or fill his belly with the east wind?

“ Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?

Do you think that you can disprove my words or that a despairing man’s words are mere wind?

Ephraim chases the wind and pursues the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and violence. He makes a covenant with Assyria, and olive oil is carried to Egypt.

How long will you go on saying these things? Your words are a blast of wind.

Should this abundance of words go unanswered and such a talker be acquitted?Should your babbling put others to silence, so that you can keep on ridiculing with no one to humiliate you?

Everything you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you.

Who among you is wise and understanding? By his good conduct he should show that his works are done in the gentleness that comes from wisdom.
