He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.

They grow like flowers, and then they dry up. They are like shadows that quickly disappear.

He comes out like a flower and withers; he flees like a shadow and continues not.

We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear.

For all flesh[ is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh[ is] grass, and all the goodliness thereof[ is] as the flower of the field:The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people[ is] grass.The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;[ it is] that they shall be destroyed for ever:

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are[ as] a sleep: in the morning[ they are] like grass[ which] groweth up.In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret[ sins] in the light of thy countenance.For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale[ that is told].
