Water wears away stones. Storms wash away soil. In the same way, you destroy a person’s hope.

水流剝石、浪湧衝沙、爾絕人之望、亦若是、

霤穿石則漸靡、浪淘沙則不見、人而絕望亦若是。

水流消石、浪淘沖沙、主使人絕望亦如此、

Every living thing that moved on land died. The birds, the livestock and the wild animals died. All of the creatures that fill the earth also died. And so did every human being.Every breathing thing on dry land died.Every living thing on earth was wiped out. People and animals were destroyed. The creatures that move along the ground and the birds in the sky were wiped out. Everything on earth was destroyed. Only Noah and those with him in the ark were left.

I am going to bring a flood on the earth. It will destroy all life under the sky. It will destroy every living creature that breathes. Everything on earth will die.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Son of man, these bones stand for all the people of Israel. The people say,‘ Our bones are dried up. We’ve lost all hope. We are destroyed.’

What hope do ungodly people have when their lives are cut short? What hope do they have when God takes away their lives?

When I felt safe, I said,“ I will always be secure.”Lord, when you gave me your help, you made Mount Zion stand firm. But when you took away your help, I was terrified.

I’ll say to myself,“ You have plenty of grain stored away for many years. Take life easy. Eat, drink and have a good time.” ’“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish man! Tonight I will take your life away from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
