Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

Isn’t each person consigned to forced labor on earth? Are not his days like those of a hired worker?

The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out by his Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones.He led me all around them. There were a great many of them on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, can these bones live?” I replied,“ Lord GOD, only you know.”He said to me,“ Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!This is what the Lord GOD says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live.I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.He said to me,“ Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord GOD says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!”So I prophesied as he commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say,‘ Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’Therefore, prophesy and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them, my people, and lead you into the land of Israel.You will know that I am the LORD, my people, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I am the LORD. I have spoken, and I will do it. This is the declaration of the LORD.’”

Even if he kills me, I will hope in him. I will still defend my ways before him.

He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.

I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help.He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.

Since a person’s days are determined and the number of his months depends on you, and since you have set limits he cannot pass,

Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voiceand come out— those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of condemnation.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Why do any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?

Job lived 140 years after this and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.

Jesus answered them,“ You are mistaken, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God.For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like angels in heaven.Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God:I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the LORD.

But I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the end he will stand on the dust.Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh.

So it is with the resurrection of the dead: Sown in corruption, raised in incorruption;sown in dishonor, raised in glory; sown in weakness, raised in power;sown a natural body, raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.

Then the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them; each one was judged according to their works.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who seeks him.It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.
