No man is like that. When he dies, he is buried in a grave. He takes his last breath. Then he is gone.

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。

人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

人則異是、始則血衰、既而氣絕、歸於無有。

惟人死則滅、人氣絕則安在、

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

“ But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

But a person dies and fades away; he breathes his last— where is he?

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?

In the same way, people lie down and never get up. People won’t wake or rise from their sleep until the heavens are gone.

God, remember that my life is only a breath. I’ll never be happy again.The eyes that see me now won’t see me anymore. You will look for me. But I’ll be gone.When a cloud disappears, it’s gone forever. And anyone who goes down to the grave never returns.He never comes home again. Even his own family doesn’t remember him.

“‘ Why did you bring me out of my mother’s body? I wish I had died before anyone saw me.

“ Why didn’t I die when I was born? Why didn’t I die as I came out of my mother’s body?

Though my skin will be destroyed, in my body I’ll see God.

After Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, he died.

But sinful people won’t find what they are looking for. They won’t be able to escape. All they can hope for is to die.”

At that moment she fell down at Peter’s feet and died. Then the young men came in. They saw that Sapphira was dead. So they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

Suppose the only home I can hope for is a grave. And suppose I make my bed in the darkness of death.Suppose I say to the grave,‘ You are like a father to me.’ And suppose I say to its worms,‘ You are like a mother or sister to me.’Then what hope do I have? Who can give me any hope?Will hope go down to the gates of death with me? Will we go down together into the dust of the grave?”

When trouble comes, sinners are brought down. But godly people seek safety in God even as they die.

“ The time came when the beggar died. The angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.In the place of the dead, the rich man was suffering terribly. He looked up and saw Abraham far away. Lazarus was by his side.

When Jacob had finished telling his sons what to do, he pulled his feet up into his bed. Then he took his last breath and died. He joined the members of his family who had already died.
