But a man dies and is laid low; man breathes his last, and where is he?

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。

人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

但人死亡而消滅；他氣絕，竟在何處呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一嚥氣，就不知去向。

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。

但人死了就過去；人一氣絕，究竟在哪裏呢？

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

人則異是、始則血衰、既而氣絕、歸於無有。

惟人死則滅、人氣絕則安在、

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

No man is like that. When he dies, he is buried in a grave. He takes his last breath. Then he is gone.

“ But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

But a person dies and fades away; he breathes his last— where is he?

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?

But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?

But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

But man dies and is powerless; he expires– and where is he?

But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

so a man lies down and rises not again; till the heavens are no more he will not awake or be roused out of his sleep.

“ Remember that my life is a breath; my eye will never again see good.The eye of him who sees me will behold me no more; while your eyes are on me, I shall be gone.As the cloud fades and vanishes, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up;he returns no more to his house, nor does his place know him anymore.

“ Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before any eye had seen me

“ Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire?

And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God,

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.

But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last.”

Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I make my bed in darkness,if I say to the pit,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My mother,’ or‘ My sister,’where then is my hope? Who will see my hope?Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”

The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death.

The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried,and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.

When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew up his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people.
