No doubt but ye are the people, And wisdom shall die with you.

爾曹為民、無疑也、智慧將與爾偕亡、

爾豈人中之俊乎、爾曹若死、宇宙間豈無哲人哉。

爾為民中俊者、無疑也、爾以為若死、智慧遂同死、或作爾豈民中之俊乎爾曹若死智慧亦死乎

“ Doubtless you are the only people who matter, and wisdom will die with you!

“ You people think you are the only ones who matter! You are sure that wisdom will die with you!

“ No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

“ You people really know everything, don’t you? And when you die, wisdom will die with you!

“ Truly then you are the people, And with you wisdom will die!

For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: Therefore shalt thou not exalt them.

I said, Days should speak, And multitude of years should teach wisdom.But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty giveth them understanding.It is not the great that are wise, Nor the aged that understand justice.Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will show mine opinion.Behold, I waited for your words, I listened for your reasonings, Whilst ye searched out what to say.Yea, I attended unto you, And, behold, there was none that convinced Job, Or that answered his words, among you.Beware lest ye say, We have found wisdom; God may vanquish him, not man:

Teach me, and I will hold my peace; And cause me to understand wherein I have erred.How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what doth it reprove?

I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame; And the spirit of my understanding answereth me.

For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And apply thyself to that which their fathers have searched out( For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow);Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, And utter words out of their heart?

But as for you all, come on now again; And I shall not find a wise man among you.

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

I say this to move you to shame. What, cannot there be found among you one wise man who shall be able to decide between his brethren,

And that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

Should a wise man make answer with vain knowledge, And fill himself with the east wind?

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.

The rich man is wise in his own conceit; But the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?

But vain man is void of understanding, Yea, man is born as a wild ass’s colt.
