But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp.”

But sinful people won’t find what they are looking for. They won’t be able to escape. All they can hope for is to die.”

在此族中、不獲綏安、無有駐足之所、耶和華必使爾心慄目盲、精神衰敗、

凡控其友朋、以為可刧者、其子之目必盲、

我若禁貧者得其所願、使嫠婦之目失望、

詛父母者、其燈必滅、幽暗甚深、

忘上帝者、其徑亦如斯、不虔敬者、其望必泯滅、所恃者必斷折、所賴者乃蛛網、

如人避獅而遇熊、入室捫壁、被齧於蛇、耶和華之日、非暗而無光、昏而無耀乎、

我望救助、致目昏瞶、乃徒勞兮、我所瞻望之國、不能施拯兮、

上帝射之、不施矜恤、欲逃其手而不得、

拯救如此之大、我若忽之、胡能逭乎、此乃主始言之、而聞者證於我儕、

陰間痛苦之際、舉目遙見亞伯拉罕、有拉撒路在其懷、遂呼曰、我祖亞伯拉罕乎、矜恤我、遣拉撒路以指尖蘸水涼我舌、蓋我在此火燄中苦甚、亞伯拉罕曰、子乎、當憶爾生時、受諸福、拉撒路受諸難、今彼慰、而爾苦焉、不第此也、爾我間限以巨淵、欲由此赴爾不能也、由彼過我、亦不能也、

疾趨者不得避所、強壯者不得施力、剛勇者不能自救、

我見主立於壇側曰、擊柱頂以震門閾、俾其折碎、墮於眾首、我必以刃戮其遺民、無一能逃、無一得避、彼雖穿穴入於陰府、我手必取之、雖攀至高天、我必降之、雖匿於迦密之巔、我必搜而出之、雖避我目、藏於海底、我必命蛇齧之、

無幽暗晦冥、俾惡人自匿、

惡者所懼必臨之、義者所欲必允之、

我呼籲而疲倦、我喉乾燥、企望我上帝、目為之瞶兮、

我必加以威烈、使爾身癆體熱、以致目盲神敗、播種徒勞、為敵所食、

彼必見拔於所恃之幕、攜詣威烈之王、
