胡為出我於胎、莫若氣絕、無目見我、

爾胡為生我、何不遄死、勿令人見、

主何為使我出母胎、莫若當初氣絕、無目得以見我、

“‘ Why did you bring me out of my mother’s body? I wish I had died before anyone saw me.

“‘ Why, then, did you deliver me from my mother’s womb? Why didn’t you let me die at birth?

“ Why did you bring me out of the womb? I should have died and never been seen.

‘ Why then did You bring me out of the womb? If only I had died and no eye had seen me!

‘ Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Oh, that I had perished and no eye had seen me!

Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me.

“ Why did You bring me out of the womb? I should have died and never been seen.

Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying,“ A child is born to you— a son!”May that man be like the towns the Lord overthrew without pity. May he hear wailing in the morning, a battle cry at noon.For he did not kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?

for it did not shut the doors of the womb on me to hide trouble from my eyes.“ Why did I not perish at birth, and die as I came from the womb?

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth, a man with whom the whole land strives and contends! I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me.

But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp.”
