When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking,“ Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”

Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.

When your children sinned against him, he gave them over to the penalty of their sin.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

The next day Paul took the men and purified himself along with them. Then he went to the temple to give notice of the date when the days of purification would end and the offering would be made for each of them.

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover.

His wife said to him,“ Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?“ I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

“‘ If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you.You are to slaughter the young bull before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting.You are to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.

Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings to the Lord.

Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts?

All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him.Say to the Israelites:‘ Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible;anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native- born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

When it rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before its thrashing.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

Will they find delight in the Almighty? Will they call on God at all times?

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come— sexual immorality, theft, murder,adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
