When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking,“ Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

The time for enjoying good food would end. Then Job would make plans for his children to be made pure and“ clean.” He would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them. He would do it early in the morning. He would think,“ Perhaps my children have sinned. Maybe they have spoken evil things against God in their hearts.” That’s what Job always did for his children when he felt they had sinned.

And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and consecrate them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said,“ It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did continually.

When these celebrations ended— sometimes after several days— Job would purify his children. He would get up early in the morning and offer a burnt offering for each of them. For Job said to himself,“ Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.

Whenever a round of banqueting was over, Job would send for his children and purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought,“ Perhaps my children have sinned, having cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.

When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send word to them and consecrate them, getting up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said,“ Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said,“ It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.

And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt- offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

現在你們要取七隻公牛、七隻公綿羊、到我僕人約伯那裏，為你們自己獻上燔祭；我僕人約伯就要為你們祈禱；因為我不按你們的冥頑不靈來辦你們，是看他的情面的；因為你們議論到我、不如我僕人約伯說的正確。』

他說：『平安；我是給永恆主獻祭來的；你們要潔淨自己為聖、來跟我赴祭筵。』撒母耳就叫耶西和他兒子們潔淨為聖，請他赴祭筵。

有兩個無賴子一類的人來，坐在拿伯對面；無賴子當着眾民面前作見證告拿伯說：『拿伯曾經謗讟上帝和王』；眾人就把他拉出城外，拿石頭打他打到死。

雅各就對他的家屬和所有同在一起的人說：『要除掉你們中間的外人神像，要潔淨自己，更換衣裳。我們要起來，上伯特利去，我要在那裏造一座祭壇給上帝，就是在我患難的日子回答我，在我走的路上和我同在的那位。』

又叫兩個無賴子一類的人坐在拿伯對面，作見證告他說：「你曾經謗讟上帝和王」；隨即把他拉出去、拿石頭打他、打到他死去。』

亞伯拉罕清早起來，備上了驢，帶着兩個僮僕和他的兒子以撒，也劈好了燔祭的柴，就起身往上帝所對他說明的地方去了。

所以定時未到以前、甚麼都不要論斷了；只等主來，他不但要照明暗中的隱密事，也要顯露人心中的計謀；那時應得的稱讚、自會由上帝分給各人了。

故此你要改悔你這個惡，要祈求主，使你心裏的意圖可得赦免；

你的兒女若犯罪得罪了他，而他也把他們放給其過犯之掌握中：

藉着各樣的禱告和祈求、時時刻刻用心靈祈禱；以十二分的恆心專在這事上覺醒着，為眾聖徒祈求，

凡你的手見得可作的事、你總要盡力去作；因為在你所要去的陰間、那裏沒有工作，沒有設計，沒有知識，也沒有智慧。

於是保羅帶着這幾個人，過一天同他們行了清潔禮，進了殿，報明清潔滿期的日子在哪一天、就是祭司為他們每一個人獻供物的時候。

猶太人的逾越節近了；逾越節以前，有許多人從鄉下上耶路撒冷，要行禮使自己清潔。

祭司和利未人就潔淨自己，也潔淨眾民、和城門城牆。

就可以盡我們的日子、在上帝面前、毫無懼怕地用虔聖正義來事奉他。

摩西的岳父葉忒羅把燔祭和幾樣祭物獻與上帝；亞倫和以色列眾長老都來，跟摩西的岳父在上帝面前喫飯。

上帝揀選的人晝夜向他喊救，他縱然在他們的事上延持着，難道總不給他們伸冤麼？

永恆主又對摩西說：『你往人民那裏去，叫他們今天明天要潔淨為聖，洗淨自己的衣裳；

他妻子對他說：『你一直持守你的純全？謗讟上帝來死吧。』

人心比甚麼都陰險，病到無法醫治；誰能識透呢？『我永恆主是察透人心、試驗人心腸的；我照各人所行的路，照他作事的結果來報應他。』

『他的供物若是以牛羣中的為燔祭，他就要供獻一隻公的、完全沒有殘疾的，牽到會棚出入處來獻上，好在永恆主面前蒙悅納。他要按手在燔祭牲的頭上、為自己行除罪禮，便蒙悅納。他要在永恆主面前宰小公牛，亞倫子孫做祭司的要將血獻上，將血潑在會棚出入處的祭壇四圍。那人要將燔祭牲的皮剝去，把燔祭牲切成塊子。

又打發以色列人中的青年人去獻上燔祭，並向永恆主獻公牛為平安祭。

耶路撒冷啊，將你心中的壞處洗淨，使你可以得救哦；你奸惡的意念存於你心裏、要到幾時呢？

有一個以色列婦人的兒子、也是埃及人的兒子、出遊在以色列人中間；這以色列婦人的兒子和一個以色列人在營裏爭鬪；這以色列婦人的兒子咒詛了聖名，並且咒罵；就有人把他送到摩西那裏。（他母親名叫示羅密，是但支派底伯利的女兒。）他們把那人安置在看守所裏，要看永恆主所吩咐的怎樣明示他們。永恆主告訴摩西說：『把那咒罵聖名的人拉出營外；叫聽見的人都按手在他頭上，讓全會眾扔石頭把他砍死。你要告訴以色列人說：凡咒罵他的上帝的、總要擔當他的罪罰。那咒詛永恆主的名的、必須被處死；全會眾總要扔石頭把他砍死；不管是寄居的、是本地人、咒詛了聖名，就必須被處死。

永恆主啊，早晨你必聽我的聲音；早晨我必向你陳明，來企望着。

牠一起來，神勇之士都恐懼，因膽破而張皇失措。

永恆主見人類在地上壞透了，人類心思終日所計謀的、沒有別的、只是壞事；

但你只要伸手擊打他一切所有的，他就一定當面謗讟你了。』

他哪是對全能者有絕妙樂趣，時刻呼求上帝呢？

因為從裏面、從人心裏、發出來的有惡念、淫亂、偷竊、兇殺、姦淫、貪婪、邪惡、詭詐、邪蕩、小心眼兒、毁謗、狂傲、愚妄：這一切惡都是從人心裏出來，並且能使人俗污。』

我以上帝的妒愛妒愛你們，把你們許配了一位獨一的丈夫，好把你們做貞潔的童女獻與基督。

以利亞取了十二塊石頭，照雅各子孫族派的數目：這雅各是永恆主的話曾傳與他說：「你的名要叫以色列」的那人。
