這樣，耶和華後來賜給約伯的福比先前更多：他有一萬四千隻羊、六千匹駱駝、一千對牛、一千頭母驢。

那地容不下他們住在一起；因為他們的財物很多，所以他們再也不能住在一起。

他又為自己建造城鎮，並且擁有大批牛羊牲口，因為神賜給他極多的財物。

耶和華所賜的福使人富足，並不加上愁煩。

亞伯拉罕把禮物分給他庶出的眾子，在自己還活著的時候，就打發他們離開他的兒子以撒，向東面行，往東方的地去。

雅各繼續前行，到了東方人的地方。

那時米甸人、亞瑪力人和所有的東方人，都散布在平原上，好像蝗蟲那麼多；他們的駱駝無數，好像海邊的沙那麼多。

摩押王米沙是個以牧羊為生的人。他每年進貢十萬頭綿羊羔和十萬頭公羊羔給以色列王。

在瑪雲有一個人，他的產業在迦密。他是一個很富有的人，有綿羊三千隻，山羊一千隻，那時他正在迦密剪羊毛。

這樣他們的牲畜、財產和所有的牲口，不都要歸我們所有嗎？只要我們應允他們的條件，他們就與我們同住了。”

因為他們帶著牲畜和帳棚上來，像蝗蟲那麼多；他們來的人和駱駝無數，進入境內，毀壞全地。

巴蘭就作歌，說：“巴勒把我從亞蘭領出來，摩押王引我出東山，說：‘來吧，為我咒罵雅各，來啊，咒罵以色列。’

他又在曠野建造了一些瞭望樓，挖了許多貯水池，因為他在高原和平原上有很多牲畜；又因為他喜愛種植，所以在山地上和果園裡，雇有農夫和修剪葡萄樹的工人。

王子都停止說話，並且用手掩口。眾領袖都不敢作聲，他們的舌頭緊貼上顎。

掠得的東西，就是打仗的人所擄掠剩下來的，共有羊六十七萬五千隻，牛七萬二千頭，驢六萬一千頭，

亞伯蘭帶著他的妻子撒萊和姪兒羅得以及他們在哈蘭所積蓄的一切財物，和所獲得的人口，一同出來，要到迦南地去。後來他們到了迦南地。

所羅門的智慧大過所有東方人的智慧，大過埃及人的一切智慧。

那時，西巴和撒慕拿正在加各，與他們在一起的軍隊約有一萬五千人，就是東方人全營剩下的，因為有十二萬持刀的已經倒下了。
