While he[ was] yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters[ were] eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

這個人還在說話的時候、又有一人來了；他說：『你兒女正在他們大哥家裏喫飯喝酒；

言時、又一人至曰、爾子女宴於兄室、

言時又一人至曰、爾子女宴於兄室、

言時、又一人至、曰、爾子女宴於長兄家、

While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,“ Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, a fourth messenger came. He said,“ Your sons and daughters were at their oldest brother’s house. They were enjoying good food and drinking wine.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news:“ Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home.

He was still speaking when another messenger came and reported,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house.

While he was still speaking, another also came and said,“ Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said,“ Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters[ were] eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:

And his sons went and feasted[ in their] houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.And also I have withholden the rain from you, when[ there were] yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.So two[ or] three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured[ them]: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.I have overthrown[ some] of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

Even to day[ is] my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

Many[ are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

If his children be multiplied,[ it is] for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only[ to] understand the report.

All[ things come] alike to all:[ there is] one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as[ is] the good, so[ is] the sinner;[ and] he that sweareth, as[ he] that feareth an oath.

If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at[ one] end,

He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown[ from] my head.He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

[ Is it] nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted[ me] in the day of his fierce anger.
