While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,“ Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, a fourth messenger came. He said,“ Your sons and daughters were at their oldest brother’s house. They were enjoying good food and drinking wine.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,

While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news:“ Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home.

He was still speaking when another messenger came and reported,“ Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house.

有一天，約伯的兒女正在長兄家吃喝，

約伯的兒子們經常輪流在自己家裡設宴，派人邀請他們的三個姊妹來一起吃喝。

「我在各城降下饑荒，使你們遍地缺糧。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。「我在收割前三個月停止降雨。我在一座城降雨，在另一座城不降雨；我使一塊田有雨水的滋潤，另一塊田因無雨而乾裂。兩三座城的人都踉踉蹌蹌地湧到一座城找水喝，水卻不夠喝。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。「我用熱風和黴災擊打你們，叫蝗蟲吞噬你們田園中的菜蔬、葡萄樹、無花果樹和橄欖樹。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。「我在你們中間降下瘟疫，如從前降在埃及一樣。我殺戮你們的青年，擄掠你們的戰馬，使你們軍營中的死屍臭味撲鼻。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。「我在你們中間施行毀滅，如從前毀滅所多瑪和蛾摩拉一樣，使你們像從火裡抽出的一根柴。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

押沙龍吩咐僕人說：「你們要留意，當暗嫩喝得正高興的時候，我叫你們殺他，你們就要動手。不要畏縮，要剛強勇敢！因為這是我的命令。」

「我的哀訴至今充滿苦楚，祂的責罰使我呻吟不止。

義人也會遭遇許多患難，但耶和華必拯救他，

他的兒女再多也難逃殺戮，他的子孫永遠吃不飽。

災難必不分晝夜、日復一日地掃過，每次掃過都必將你們擄去。」明白這信息的人都必驚恐萬分。

義人和惡人、好人和壞人、潔淨的和污穢的、獻祭的和不獻祭的、行善的和犯罪的、敢於起誓的和不敢起誓的人，最終的命運都一樣。

如果你的兒女得罪了祂，祂會給他們應有的懲罰。

報信的人接踵而來，向巴比倫王稟告，『整座城已失守，

祂一次次地擊傷我，像勇士一樣撲向我。

祂剝去我的榮耀，摘走我頭上的冠冕。祂從四面攻擊我，直到我消逝；祂把我的希望像樹一樣連根拔除。

「要是能秤量我的苦難，把我的災殃放在秤上，那將比海沙還重；所以我言語魯莽。

「路人啊，你們都無動於衷嗎？你們看看，耶和華向我發烈怒，降禍於我，還有誰比我更痛苦呢？
