Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

耶穌對曰：『非由其本身、亦非其父母之罪、惟欲使天主之功德、彰於其身耳。

“ Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus,“ but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

“ It isn’t because this man sinned,” said Jesus.“ It isn’t because his parents sinned. He was born blind so that God’s power could be shown by what’s going to happen.

Jesus answered,“ It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.

“ It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered.“ This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.

“ Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus answered.“ This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him.

Jesus answered,“ It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

When Jesus heard[ that], he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

And it was[ so], that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me[ the thing that is] right, as my servant Job[ hath].

[ Is] not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.But[ as for] the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.Therefore snares[ are] round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;Or darkness,[ that] thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.[ Is] not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?Thick clouds[ are] a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?Yet he filled their houses with good[ things]: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.The righteous see[ it], and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the[ gold] of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.When[ men] are cast down, then thou shalt say,[ There is] lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that[ there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he[ is] in thine hand; but save his life.

Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices[ which] ye wrongfully imagine against me.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all[ men] glorified God for that which was done.

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

And when the barbarians saw the[ venomous] beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works,[ are] in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred[ by] all[ that is] before them.All[ things come] alike to all:[ there is] one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as[ is] the good, so[ is] the sinner;[ and] he that sweareth, as[ he] that feareth an oath.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that[ there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath[ is] in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and[ yet] had condemned Job.

Believe me that I[ am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater[ works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
