Then they hurled insults at him and said,“ You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!

他們就罵他：「你才是祂的門徒！我們是摩西的門徒。

他們就罵他，說：“你才是他的門徒，我們是摩西的門徒。

他們就辱罵他說：『你、是那個人的門徒，我們、乃是摩西的門徒。

他們就辱罵他，說：「你才是那個人的門徒！我們是摩西的門徒！

眾詬之曰、爾乃其徒、我儕摩西徒也、

眾詈之曰、爾乃其門徒、我儕則摩西之門徒、

彼等詈曰：『汝乃斯人之徒、而吾輩則摩西之徒也。

Then they began to attack him with their words.“ You are this fellow’s disciple!” they said.“ We are disciples of Moses!

And they reviled him, saying,“ You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

Then they cursed him and said,“ You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses!

They ridiculed him:“ You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’s disciples.

They spoke abusively to him and said,“ You are His disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

Then they reviled him and said,“ You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.

And they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses.

They ridiculed him:“ You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’ disciples.

They heaped insults on him, saying,“ You are his disciple! We are disciples of Moses!

They insulted him and said,“ You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;

“ You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.“ Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law— there is a curse on them.”Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked,“ Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?”They replied,“ Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.”

Then they secretly persuaded some men to say,“ We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.They produced false witnesses, who testified,“ This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.”

“ But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;

“ Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads

“ Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults.

To this they replied,“ You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”

nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
