Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him,“ Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them.

They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them,“ Why didn’t you bring him?”The officers answered,“ No man ever spoke like this man!”The Pharisees therefore answered them,“ You aren’t also led astray, are you?Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is cursed.”Nicodemus( he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,“ Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”They answered him,“ Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”

When therefore it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the middle, and said to them,“ Peace be to you.”

Nevertheless even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.

“ I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.“ Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.“ I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God;but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of God’s angels.

“ Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law. Don’t fear the reproach of men, and don’t be dismayed at their insults.

But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.

“ I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you, that you are afraid of man who shall die, and of the son of man who will be made as grass?

But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
