其實你心裡明白，自己也曾多次咒罵別人。

這就表明律法的作用是刻在他們的心裡，有他們的良心一同作證，他們的思想互相較量，或作控告、或作辯護。

列國陷入自己挖掘的坑中，他們的腳在自己暗設的網裡纏住了。耶和華已經把自己顯明，又施行了審判；惡人被自己手所作的纏住了。（希迦庸、細拉）

他們彼此說：“我們在對待弟弟的事上實在有罪。他向我們求情的時候，我們看見他心裡的痛苦，卻不肯聽他，所以這次苦難臨到我們身上了。”流本回答他們，說：“我不是對你們說過：‘不要傷害那孩子’嗎？可是你們不肯聽，現在流他血的罪要向我們追討。”

你說不可姦淫，自己卻姦淫嗎？你憎惡偶像，自己卻劫掠廟宇嗎？

願那些尋找我，要毀滅我命的，一同抱愧蒙羞；願那些喜悅我遭害的，退後受辱。

他說完了這些話，那些與他為敵的人都慚愧；群眾卻都因他所行一切榮耀的事歡喜。

惡人的歡呼並不長久，不敬虔者的快樂，不過是暫時的嗎？

又挫敗狡猾人的計謀，使他們的手所作的無法成全；他使有智慧的人中了自己的詭計，使奸詐人的謀算快快失敗。

願那些控告我的，都羞愧滅亡；願那些謀求害我的，都蒙羞受辱。

那時有成千上萬的人聚在一起，甚至彼此踐踏。耶穌就先對門徒說：“你們要提防法利賽人的酵，就是虛偽。沒有甚麼掩蓋的事不被揭露，也沒有甚麼隱藏的事不被人知道。所以，你們在暗處所說的，必在明處被人聽見；在內室附耳所談的，必在房頂上宣揚出來。

你作了這些事，我默不作聲；你以為我和你一樣？其實我要責備你，要當面指控你。

於是婦人對以利亞說：“神人哪，我跟你有甚麼關係呢？你竟到我這裡來，使耶和華想起我的罪孽，殺死我的兒子。”

耶穌挺起身來，問她：“婦人，他們在哪裡？沒有人定你的罪嗎？”

天必顯露他的罪孽，地要興起來攻擊他，

王又對示每說：“你自己知道你心裡的一切惡事，就是你向我父親大衛所行的；現在耶和華要把你的罪歸到你的頭上。

耶穌又對眾人說：“我是世界的光，跟從我的，必定不在黑暗裡走，卻要得著生命的光。”

當時耶穌的名聲傳揚出去，希律王也聽到了。有人說：“施洗的約翰從死人中復活了，所以他身上有行神蹟的能力。”又有人說：“他是以利亞。”還有人說：“他是先知，像古時先知中的一位。”希律聽見就說：“是約翰，我砍了他的頭，他又活了！”

黎明的時候，他又到聖殿去，眾人都來到他那裡，他就坐下教導他們。
