你告訴他人不可通姦，自己卻通姦嗎？你憎惡偶像，自己卻去偷廟裡的東西嗎？

願謀取我性命的人蒙羞受辱！願喜歡我被害的人狼狽逃竄！

反對祂的人聽了這番話後，都非常羞愧，眾人卻為耶穌的奇妙作為高興歡喜。

惡人得勢不會長久，不信上帝者的快樂轉瞬即逝？

祂挫敗狡猾人的陰謀，使他們無法得逞。祂使智者中了自己的詭計，使奸徒的計謀迅速落空。

願我的仇敵在羞辱中滅亡，願那些害我的人抱愧蒙羞。

這時，成千上萬的人聚集在一起，甚至互相踐踏。耶穌先對門徒說：「你們要提防法利賽人的酵，就是他們的偽善。掩蓋的事終會暴露出來，隱藏的秘密終會被人知道。你們在暗處說的，將在明處被人聽見；你們在密室裡的私語，將在屋頂上被人宣揚。

我對你的所作所為默然不語，你就以為我與你是同道。現在我要責備你，當面指出你的罪狀。

婦人對以利亞說：「上帝的僕人啊，我跟你有什麼關係？你到我這裡來是要讓上帝想起我的罪，取我兒子的性命嗎？」

耶穌直起腰來，說：「婦人，他們到哪裡去了？沒有人定你的罪嗎？」

天要揭露他的罪惡，地要站出來指控他。

王又說：「你以前如何惡待我父大衛，你自己心裡明白，現在耶和華要追究你的罪行了。

耶穌又對眾人說：「我是世界的光，凡跟從我的，必不會走在黑暗裡，必要得到生命的光。」

耶穌聲名遠播，希律王也聽說了祂的事。有人說：「施洗者約翰從死裡復活了，所以能夠行這些神蹟。」也有人說：「祂是先知以利亞。」還有人說：「祂是個先知，跟古代的一位先知相似。」希律聽到這些議論，就說：「祂一定是被我斬了頭的約翰從死裡復活了。」

第二天清晨，祂又回到聖殿。百姓聚集在祂那裡，祂就坐下來教導他們。
