耶穌看出他們的惡意，就說：「假冒為善的人哪，為甚麼試探我？

也不要試探主，像他們有人試探的，就被蛇所滅。

耶穌卻一言不答。門徒進前來，求他說：「這婦人在我們後頭喊叫，請打發她走吧。」

你們怨恨那在城門口責備人的，憎惡那說正直話的。

耶穌從那裏出來，文士和法利賽人就極力地催逼他，引動他多說話，私下窺聽，要拿他的話柄。

猶大是個小獅子；我兒啊，你抓了食便上去。你屈下身去，臥如公獅，蹲如母獅，誰敢惹你？

於是窺探耶穌，打發奸細裝作好人，要在他的話上得把柄，好將他交在巡撫的政權之下。奸細就問耶穌說：「夫子，我們曉得你所講所傳都是正道，也不取人的外貌，乃是誠誠實實傳神的道。我們納稅給凱撒，可以不可以？」耶穌看出他們的詭詐，就對他們說：

「我差你們去，如同羊進入狼羣；所以你們要靈巧像蛇，馴良像鴿子。

那尋索我命的設下網羅；那想要害我的口出惡言，終日思想詭計。但我如聾子不聽，像啞巴不開口。我如不聽見的人，口中沒有回話。

有法利賽人來問他說：「人休妻可以不可以？」意思要試探他。

法利賽人出來盤問耶穌，求他從天上顯個神蹟給他們看，想要試探他。

內中有一個人是律法師，要試探耶穌，就問他說：

所以通達人見這樣的時勢必靜默不言，因為時勢真惡。

過路被事激動，管理不干己的爭競，好像人揪住狗耳。

這些人雖看見我的榮耀和我在埃及與曠野所行的神蹟，仍然試探我這十次，不聽從我的話，

法利賽人和撒都該人來試探耶穌，請他從天上顯個神蹟給他們看。

耶穌卻不言語。大祭司對他說：「我指着永生神叫你起誓告訴我們，你是神的兒子基督不是？」

當時，忽有人的指頭顯出，在王宮與燈臺相對的粉牆上寫字。王看見寫字的指頭

清早又回到殿裏。眾百姓都到他那裏去，他就坐下，教訓他們。

我曾說：我要謹慎我的言行，免得我舌頭犯罪；惡人在我面前的時候，我要用嚼環勒住我的口。

又有人試探耶穌，向他求從天上來的神蹟。

我們該納不該納？」耶穌知道他們的假意，就對他們說：「你們為甚麼試探我？拿一個銀錢來給我看！」
