These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

All the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring, because you have obeyed my voice.’”

They answered him,“ Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them,“ If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.

For most certainly I tell you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.

Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ In you all the nations will be blessed.”So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.

for I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and didn’t see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and didn’t hear them.”

These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith, didn’t receive the promise,

Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently. They prophesied of the grace that would come to you,searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.To them it was revealed, that they served not to themselves, but to you, in these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,“ Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;for my eyes have seen your salvation,

I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
