Anyone who does not remain in Christ’s teaching but goes beyond it does not have God. The one who remains in that teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son.

“ You are a king then?” Pilate asked.“ You say that I’m a king,” Jesus replied.“ I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name,who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.

It is written in the Prophets: And they will all be taught by God. Everyone who has listened to and learned from the Father comes to me—not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God. He has seen the Father.

I know you are descendants of Abraham, but you are trying to kill me because my word has no place among you.

But you don’t believe because you are not of my sheep.My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.

They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.Now they know that everything you have given me is from you,because I have given them the words you gave me. They have received them and have known for certain that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.

He said,“ This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted to him by the Father.”

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world.You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.They are from the world. Therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them.We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

Why don’t you understand what I say? Because you cannot listen to my word.

Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.

This is how God’s children and the devil’s children become obvious. Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother or sister.
