So the great dragon was thrown out— the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder! For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no great surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will be according to their works.

Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to count the people of Israel.

“ Skin for skin!” Satan answered the LORD.“ A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life.But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”“ Very well,” the LORD told Satan,“ he is in your power; only spare his life.”

The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with every kind of miracle, both signs and wonders serving the lie,and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe the lie,

But stretch out your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

“ Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said,‘ I will entice him.’“ The LORD asked him,‘ How?’“ So he said,‘ I will go and become a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’“ Then he said,‘ You will entice him and also prevail. Go and do that.’“ Now, you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit into the mouth of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you.”

“ Ananias,” Peter asked,“ why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land?

It began to speak blasphemies against God: to blaspheme his name and his dwelling— those who dwell in heaven.And it was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them. It was also given authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation.All those who live on the earth will worship it, everyone whose name was not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered.

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will experience affliction for ten days. Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from your passions that wage war within you?You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and wage war. You do not have because you do not ask.You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.You adulterous people! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God.Or do you think it’s without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely?But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

It deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs that it is permitted to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

The one who says,“ I have come to know him,” and yet doesn’t keep his commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
