[ Is] Ephraim my dear son?[ is he] a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth,[ and] draw out the tongue?[ are] ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?Among the smooth[ stones] of the stream[ is] thy portion; they, they[ are] thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.

The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom,[ departing] from the LORD.

Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured.[ Is this] of thy whoredoms a small matter,That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through[ the fire] for them?

Plead with your mother, plead: for she[ is] not my wife, neither[ am] I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they[ be] the children of whoredoms.For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give[ me] my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they[ are] adulteresses, and blood[ is] in their hands.For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
