I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you.

I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word.

Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill me because there’s no room in your hearts for my message.

“ I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.

I know you are descendants of Abraham, but you are trying to kill Me because My word is not welcome among you.

After this Jesus traveled throughout Galilee. He stayed out of Judea because the Jewish leaders wanted to kill him.

Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

But because I am telling you the truth, you do not believe me.Who among you can prove me guilty of any sin? If I am telling you the truth, why don’t you believe me?The one who belongs to God listens and responds to God’s words. You don’t listen and respond, because you don’t belong to God.”

The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather“ through Isaac will your descendants be counted.”

How can you believe, if you accept praise from one another and don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?

The Jewish leaders picked up rocks again to stone him to death.

They answered him,“ Abraham is our father!” Jesus replied,“ If you are Abraham’s children, you would be doing the deeds of Abraham.But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this!

“ We are descendants of Abraham,” they replied,“ and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say,‘ You will become free’?”

Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept my teaching.

( Now they were asking this in an attempt to trap him, so that they could bring charges against him.) Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger.

Then some of the residents of Jerusalem began to say,“ Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?

Brothers, descendants of Abraham’s family, and those Gentiles among you who fear God, the message of this salvation has been sent to us.

For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’

So from that day they planned together to kill him.

Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began persecuting him.So he told them,“ My Father is working until now, and I too am working.”For this reason the Jewish leaders were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.

Hasn’t Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law! Why do you want to kill me?”

For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said,“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and turn to me, and I would heal them.”Isaiah said these things because he saw Christ’s glory, and spoke about him.Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they would not confess Jesus to be the Christ, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue.For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches what was sown in his heart; this is the seed sown along the path.The seed sown on rocky ground is the person who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy.But he has no root in himself and does not endure; when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away.The seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth choke the word, so it produces nothing.
