They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I send? who is blind as he that is at peace with me, and blind as Jehovah’s servant?Thou seest many things, but thou observest not; his ears are open, but he heareth not.

Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.

He that is of God heareth the words of God: for this cause ye hear them not, because ye are not of God.

We grope for the wall like the blind; yea, we grope as they that have no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the twilight; among them that are lusty we are as dead men.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish:in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.
