And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

Jesus replied,“ You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The one who comes from heaven is above all.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For everything in the world— the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions— is not from the Father, but is from the world.

I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

They are from the world. Therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them.We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

You adulterous people! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God.

The mindset of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit to God’s law. Indeed, it is unable to do so.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the sway of the evil one.And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know the true one. We are in the true one— that is, in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Such wisdom does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.

“ If the world hates you, understand that it hated me before it hated you.If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you.

Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things.Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.

Concerning what people do: by the words from your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven— the Son of Man.

The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.Like the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; like the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven.
