耶穌面對銀庫坐著，看著大家怎樣把錢投入庫中。許多有錢的人投入很多的錢。

耶穌把門徒叫過來，對他們說：“我實在告訴你們，這窮寡婦投入庫裡的，比眾人投的更多。

祭司長把銀子拾起來，說：“這是血錢，不可放在殿庫裡。”

他們又要逮捕耶穌，他卻從他們的手中逃脫了。

他們中間有人想逮捕耶穌，只是沒有人下手。

就在那時候，有幾個法利賽人來對耶穌說：“你離開這裡走吧！因為希律想要殺你。”他說：“你們去告訴那個狐狸，今天明天我趕鬼醫病，第三天我的事就完成了。然而，今天明天後天，我必須前行，因為先知不能在耶路撒冷以外喪命。

耶穌說：“白晝不是有十二小時嗎？人若在白晝行走，就不會跌倒，因為他看見這世上的光；人若在夜間行走，就會跌倒，因為他沒有光。”

四個殿門的守衛長都是利未人，受託看守神的殿的房間和庫房。

於是他們拿起石頭要打他。耶穌卻躲起來，從殿裡出去了。

經學家和祭司長知道這比喻是針對他們說的，當時就想動手拿他，可是又害怕群眾。
