他們聽了，想捉拿耶穌，只是沒有人下手，因為祂的時候還沒有到。

你們先去過節吧，我現在還不上去，因為我的時候還沒有到。」

然後，耶穌走到聖殿的奉獻箱對面坐下，看大家怎樣奉獻。很多財主奉獻了大量的錢。

耶穌叫門徒來，說：「我實在告訴你們，這位窮寡婦比其他人奉獻的都多，

祭司長們撿起銀子，說：「這是血錢，不可收進聖殿的庫房。」

他們又要抓耶穌，但祂從他們手中逃脫了。

有些人想抓祂，只是沒有人下手。

那時，有幾個法利賽人來告訴耶穌，說：「快離開這裡吧，希律要殺你！」耶穌說：「你們去告訴那個狐狸，『今天和明天，我要繼續趕鬼治病，到第三天，我的任務就完成了。』無論如何，今天、明天和後天我必須繼續前行，因為先知不能死在耶路撒冷以外的地方。

耶穌說：「白天不是有十二個小時嗎？人在白天走路，不會跌倒，因為他看得見這世上的光。人在夜間走路，才會跌倒，因為沒有光。」

四個殿門守衛長都是利未人，負責看守上帝殿的房間和庫房。

於是，他們就拿起石頭要打祂，耶穌卻避開他們，離開了聖殿。

律法教師和祭司長聽出這比喻是針對他們說的，便想立刻下手捉拿耶穌，但又害怕百姓。
