Again Jesus spoke to them, saying,“ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said,“ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

So Jesus said to them,“ The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

“ You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.’

In him was life, and the life was the light of men.The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;

because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on highto give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you.And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

he says:“ It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.

so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:“ The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.”

If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.

“ I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations,to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.

that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.”

Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

Jesus said to him,“ I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”

For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,“‘ I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved.

Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—

his soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light.

wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.
