This foolish crowd follows him, but they are ignorant of the law. God’s curse is on them!”

這群不明白律法的民眾該受咒詛！」

至於這群不明白律法的人，他們是可咒詛的。”

至於這不懂律法的羣眾呢，他們只是被咒詛的罷了。』

這不懂律法的民眾是被詛咒的！」

但此眾不識律、見詛矣、

但此眾不識律、可詛也、

但此眾不識律法、實可詛也、

惟彼眾庶、昧於律法、其亦可詛也已！』

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

Yet they say to each other,‘ Don’t come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!’ These people are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away.

“ You were born a total sinner!” they answered.“ Are you trying to teach us?” And they threw him out of the synagogue.

Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked,“ Are you saying we’re blind?”

Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it,“ He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say,“ The potter who made me is stupid”?Soon— and it will not be very long— the forests of Lebanon will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops.In that day the deaf will hear words read from a book, and the blind will see through the gloom and darkness.The humble will be filled with fresh joy from the Lord. The poor will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

Therefore, listen to this message from the Lord, you scoffing rulers in Jerusalem.

Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say,“ He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”And again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”

What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever.
