Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Who say,‘ Keep to yourself, Do not come near me, For I am holier than you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day.

They answered and said to him,“ You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.

Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him,“ Are we blind also?”

Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say,“ Who sees us?” and,“ Who knows us?”Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it,“ He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?Is it not yet a very little while Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scornful men, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;and again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
