Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

who say,“ Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day.

They answered him,“ You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out.

Who knows us?”You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker,“ He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest?In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers, who rule this people in Jerusalem!

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their craftiness,”and again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!
