Who is wise and understanding among you? let him show by his good life his works in meekness of wisdom.But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth.This wisdom is not a wisdom that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without variance, without hypocrisy.And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.

that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it, He made me not; or the thing formed say of him that formed it, He hath no understanding?Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.The meek also shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.

Wherefore hear the word of Jehovah, ye scoffers, that rule this people that is in Jerusalem:

Let no man deceive himself. If any man thinketh that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He that taketh the wise in their craftiness:and again, The Lord knoweth the reasonings of the wise, that they are vain.

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
