Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”

Doesn’t Scripture say that the Messiah will come from the family line of David? Doesn’t it say that he will come from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”

For the Scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem, the village where King David was born.”

Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David lived?”

但是你、伯利恆以法他啊，你在猶大諸鄉村中雖然細小，將來必有一位從你那裏為我而出，在以色列中做統治者；他的根源出於亙古，出於往古之日。

他們對他說：『在猶太的伯利恆；因為藉着神言人所記的是這樣說：

約瑟、因他本是大衛一家一族的人、也從加利利、由拿撒勒城、上猶太去，到了大衛的城名叫伯利恆。

因為在大衛的城裏、今天為你們生了一位拯救者，就是主基督。

亞伯拉罕的子孫、大衛的子孫、耶穌基督、的族譜。

從耶西的樹𣎴子必生出一根枝條來，從他的根必發生一條嫩枝子。

永恆主對撒母耳說：『我棄絕了掃羅做以色列的王，你為他悲傷要到幾時呢？把你的角盛滿了膏油吧！來，我差遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裏去，因為我在他的兒子當中已經看定了一個作王的。』

『看吧，日子必到，永恆主發神諭說，我必給大衛興起一個憑義氣救人的苗裔；他必掌王權，精明而亨通，在國中秉公而行義。

永恆主真地向大衛起誓過，他必不反覆變卦：他說：『你腹中出的果子、我必使其一位坐你寶座。

「我必堅立你的後裔到永遠；我必建立你的王位到代代。」』（細拉）

僮僕中有一個人應時地說：『吶，我曾看見伯利恆人耶西有一個兒子、精於彈琴；是個有力氣英勇之士，能打仗；說話能明辨；兼有丰姿；永恆主也和他同在。』

然而我們知道這個人是從哪裏來的；只是彌賽亞來的時候，是沒有人知道他從哪裏來的。』

掃羅問他說：『青年人哪，你是誰的兒子？』大衛說：『我是你僕人伯利恆人耶西的兒子。』

撒母耳便照永恆主所吩咐的話去行。他到了伯利恆，那城的長老都戰戰兢兢地迎接他，說：『你來平安麼？』

撒母耳問耶西說：『孩子們全都在這裏麼？』他回答說：『還剩下一個小的，現在正在代替看羊、跟羊羣在一起呢。』撒母耳對耶西說：『請打發人去帶他來；因為他沒來到、我們決不坐席。』耶西就打發人去領他來：他臉色赤紅：雙目清秀，丰采俊美。永恆主說：『這一個就是了；你起來膏他。』撒母耳就拿了油角，在他哥哥們中間膏了他；從那一天起、永恆主的靈就大大感動大衛。於是撒母耳起身、往拉瑪去了。
