Some of the people therefore, after they heard these words, were saying,“ This truly is the Prophet.”

眾聞斯言、或曰、是誠彼先知也、

眾聞此、有曰、是誠先知者、

眾聞此言、多曰、斯人誠為彼先知、

眾聆斯言多曰：『斯真先知！』

On hearing his words, some of the people said,“ Surely this man is the Prophet.”

The people heard his words. Some of them said,“ This man must be the Prophet we’ve been expecting.”

When they heard these words, some of the people said,“ This really is the Prophet.”

When the crowds heard him say this, some of them declared,“ Surely this man is the Prophet we’ve been expecting.”

When some from the crowd heard these words, they said,“ This truly is the Prophet.”

Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said,“ Truly this is the Prophet.”

Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, This is of a truth the prophet.

When some from the crowd heard these words, they said,“ This really is the Prophet!”

And the crowds were saying,“ This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee.”

And so they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” And he* said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”

Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said,“ This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
