凡有為者、不宜幽居潛處、必欲有以自彰。爾既有此異能、盍亦自顯於世乎？』

No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”

Jesus answered him,“ I have spoken openly to the world; I always taught in synagogues and in the temple area, where all the Jews congregate; and I said nothing in secret.

And they do all their deeds to be noticed by other people; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.

One who separates himself seeks his own desire; He quarrels against all sound wisdom.A fool does not delight in understanding, But in revealing his own mind.

“ And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

“ Take care not to practice your righteousness in the sight of people, to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.“ So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

and he* said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written:‘ He will give His angels orders concerning You’; and‘ On their hands they will lift You up, So that You do not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”

Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying,“ Behold now, the words of the prophets are unanimously favorable to the king. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.”

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven.And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.They were amazed and astonished, saying,“ Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Cretans and Arabs— we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty deeds of God.”And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another,“ What does this mean?”

“ Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
