You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

You will look for me, but you won’t find me. You can’t come where I am going.”

You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.”

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Once more Jesus said to them,“ I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”This made the Jews ask,“ Will he kill himself? Is that why he says,‘ Where I go, you cannot come’?”But he continued,“ You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say,‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

Then he said to his disciples,“ The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.People will tell you,‘ There he is!’ or‘ Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them.

“ Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke,I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you—when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.“ Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me,since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

“ My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.“ A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”Simon Peter asked him,“ Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied,“ Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

When they go with their flocks and herds to seek the Lord, they will not find him; he has withdrawn himself from them.

“ Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading,‘ Sir, open the door for us.’“ But he will answer,‘ I don’t know you or where you come from.’

Jesus answered,“ I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
