於是猶大領了兵隊、和祭司長跟法利賽人的差役，帶着燈籠火把和武器來到那裏。

『經學士和法利賽人、假冒為善的人哪，你們有禍啊！因為你們當人面前把天國關起來；你們自己不進入，又不容那正進入的人進入。

當時那些差役回到祭司長和法利賽人那裏：他們對差役說：『你們為甚麼沒有把他帶來呢？』差役回答說：『從來沒有人像這個人這樣講話的。』法利賽人就回答他們說：『難道連你們也受了迷惑？難道議員們或法利賽人中也有信他的？至於這不懂律法的羣眾呢，他們只是被咒詛的罷了。』他們中間有一個人、先前來見耶穌的尼哥底母、對他們說：『若不先聽聽他本人的口供，而知道他所作的是甚麼事，難道我們的律法還定人的罪麼？』他們回答他說：『難道連你也是出於加利利麼？你去探索，就可以看清楚：神言人是不從加利利興起來的。』【於是各人都往自己家裏去了；

羣眾都驚奇說：『這難道是大衛的子孫麼？』法利賽人聽見了就說：『這個人趕鬼，無非是靠着鬼王別西卜罷了！』

耶穌對那些上來要拿他的祭司長守殿官和長老們說：『你們出來、帶着刀棒、如同拿強盜麼？我天天同你們在殿裏，你們並沒有下手拿我呀！然而這是你們、的鐘點，黑暗的權勢了！』

於是法利賽人就彼此說：『可見你們是無濟於事的；你看，世界都去跟着他了！』
