“虚伪的律法教师和法利赛人啊，你们有祸了！因为你们当着人们的面关闭天国之门，自己不进去，也不让别人进去。

祭司长和法利赛人看见差役空手回来，就问：“你们为什么不把祂带来呢？”差役答道：“从未有人像祂那样说话！”法利赛人说：“难道你们也被祂迷惑了吗？哪有官长和法利赛人信祂呢？这群不明白律法的民众该受咒诅！”曾经夜访耶稣、属于他们当中一员的尼哥德慕说：“难道不听被告申辩，不查明事实真相，我们的律法就定祂的罪吗？”他们回答说：“难道你也是加利利人吗？你去查查看，就会知道没有先知是从加利利来的。”

众人都很惊奇，就说：“这人会不会是大卫的那个后裔？”法利赛人听见后却说：“祂不过是靠鬼王别西卜赶鬼罢了。”

然后对前来抓祂的祭司长、圣殿护卫长和长老说：“你们像对付强盗一样拿着刀棍来抓我吗？我天天和你们一起在圣殿里，你们没有抓我。但现在正是黑暗当权、你们得势的时候了！”

法利赛人彼此议论说：“我们真是枉费心思！你看，整个世界都跟着祂跑了。”
