At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

So Jesus replied,“ My time has not yet arrived, but you are ready at any opportunity!

The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Jesus, so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.

who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand what has not yet occurred, who says,‘ My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire,’

Hasn’t Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law! Why do you want to kill me?”

Jesus replied,“ Are there not twelve hours in a day? If anyone walks around in the daytime, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.But if anyone walks around at night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”

But he said to them,“ Go and tell that fox,‘ Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work.Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, because it is impossible that a prophet should be killed outside Jerusalem.’

The chief priests and the experts in the law heard it and they considered how they could assassinate him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.

Then the experts in the law and the chief priests wanted to arrest him that very hour, because they realized he had told this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.

( Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus was should report it, so that they could arrest him.)

We must perform the deeds of the one who sent me as long as it is daytime. Night is coming when no one can work.

You go up to the feast yourselves. I am not going up to this feast because my time has not yet fully arrived.”

Jesus was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate him,but they could not find a way to do it, for all the people hung on his words.

Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts, you did not arrest me. But this is your hour, and that of the power of darkness!”

I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you.

Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure.

The Jewish leaders picked up rocks again to stone him to death.

Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

Some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them,“ Why didn’t you bring him back with you?”The officers replied,“ No one ever spoke like this man!”
