耶稣还在对众人说话的时候，不料，他母亲和他兄弟站在外边想要跟他说话。

原来连他的兄弟们也不信他。

耶稣的母亲和他兄弟来看他，因为人多，不能到他跟前。

但他的兄弟们上去过节以后，他也上去，不是公开去，却似乎是秘密地去的。

大卫的长兄以利押听见大卫与他们所说的话，就向他发怒，说：“你下来做什么呢？在旷野的那几只羊，你交托谁了呢？我知道你的骄傲和你心里的恶意，你下来只是为了看战争！”

因为连你兄弟和你父家都以诡诈待你，甚至在你后边大声喊叫。虽然他们向你说好话，你也不要相信他们。”

那时，耶稣的母亲和他兄弟来，站在外边，打发人去叫他。

约瑟做了一个梦，告诉他哥哥们，他们就更加恨他。约瑟对他们说：“请听我做的这个梦：看哪，我们在田里捆禾稼；看哪，我的捆起来站着；看哪，你们的捆围着我的捆下拜。”他的哥哥们对他说：“难道你真的要作我们的王吗？难道你真的要统治我们吗？”他们就因他的梦和他的话更加恨他。后来他又做了另一个梦，告诉他哥哥们说：“看哪，我又做了一个梦；看哪，太阳、月亮和十一颗星都向我下拜。”约瑟告诉他父亲和哥哥们，他父亲就责备他说：“你做的这是什么梦！难道我和你母亲、你的兄弟真的要俯伏在地，来向你下拜吗？”他的哥哥们都嫉妒他，他父亲却把这事存在心里。

现在，来吧！我们把他杀了，丢在一个坑里，就说有恶兽把他吃了。我们且看他的梦将来怎么样。”

就打发他们的门徒同希律党人去见耶稣，说：“老师，我们知道你是诚实的，并且诚诚实实传上帝的道，无论谁你都一视同仁，因为你不看人的面子。请告诉我们，你的意见如何？纳税给凯撒合不合法？”

彼得和十一个使徒站起来，他就高声向众人说：“犹太人和所有住在耶路撒冷的人哪，这件事你们要知道，要侧耳听我的话。
