Jesus’ brothers said to him,“ Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.

While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.

For not even his brothers believed in him.

Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd.

But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

Now Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said,“ Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption and the evil of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; they are in full cry after you; do not believe them, though they speak friendly words to you.”

And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.

Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more.He said to them,“ Hear this dream that I have dreamed:Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.”His brothers said to him,“ Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said,“ Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him,“ What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?”And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying,“ Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them:“ Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
