耶穌還對眾人說話的時候，不料他母親和他弟兄站在外邊，要與他說話。

因為連他的弟兄說這話，是因為不信他。

耶穌的母親和他弟兄來了，因為人多，不得到他跟前。

但他弟兄上去以後，他也上去過節，不是明去，似乎是暗去的。

大衛的長兄以利押聽見大衛與他們所說的話，就向他發怒，說：「你下來做甚麼呢？在曠野的那幾隻羊，你交託了誰呢？我知道你的驕傲和你心裏的惡意，你下來特為要看爭戰！」

因為連你弟兄和你父家都用奸詐待你。他們也在你後邊大聲喊叫，雖向你說好話，你也不要信他們。

當下，耶穌的母親和弟兄來，站在外邊，打發人去叫他。

約瑟做了一夢，告訴他哥哥們，他們就越發恨他。約瑟對他們說：「請聽我所做的夢：我們在田裏捆禾稼，我的捆起來站着，你們的捆來圍着我的捆下拜。」他的哥哥們回答說：「難道你真要作我們的王嗎？難道你真要管轄我們嗎？」他們就因為他的夢和他的話越發恨他。後來他又做了一夢，也告訴他的哥哥們說：「看哪，我又做了一夢，夢見太陽、月亮，與十一個星向我下拜。」約瑟將這夢告訴他父親和他哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：「你做的這是甚麼夢！難道我和你母親、你弟兄果然要來俯伏在地，向你下拜嗎？」他哥哥們都嫉妒他，他父親卻把這話存在心裏。

來吧！我們將他殺了，丟在一個坑裏，就說有惡獸把他吃了。我們且看他的夢將來怎麼樣。」

就打發他們的門徒同希律黨的人去見耶穌，說：「夫子，我們知道你是誠實人，並且誠誠實實傳神的道，甚麼人你都不徇情面，因為你不看人的外貌。請告訴我們，你的意見如何？納稅給凱撒可以不可以？」

彼得和十一個使徒站起，高聲說：「猶太人和一切住在耶路撒冷的人哪，這件事你們當知道，也當側耳聽我的話。
