Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision( though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.

Moses gave you circumcision, and so you circumcise a child on the Sabbath day. But circumcision did not really come from Moses. It came from Abraham.

But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses’ law of circumcision.( Actually, this tradition of circumcision began with the patriarchs, long before the law of Moses.)

第八天，要給嬰孩行割禮。

你們所有的男子都要受割禮；這就是我與你並你的後裔所立的約，是你們所當遵守的。你們都要受割禮；這是我與你們立約的證據。你們世世代代的男子，無論是家裏生的，是在你後裔之外用銀子從外人買的，生下來第八日，都要受割禮。你家裏生的和你用銀子買的，都必須受割禮。這樣，我的約就立在你們肉體上作永遠的約。但不受割禮的男子必從民中剪除，因他背了我的約。」

如此看來，這福是單加給那受割禮的人嗎？不也是加給那未受割禮的人嗎？因我們所說，亞伯拉罕的信，就算為他的義，是怎麼算的呢？是在他受割禮的時候呢？是在他未受割禮的時候呢？不是在受割禮的時候，乃是在未受割禮的時候。並且他受了割禮的記號，作他未受割禮的時候因信稱義的印證，叫他作一切未受割禮而信之人的父，使他們也算為義；

我是這麼說，神預先所立的約，不能被那四百三十年以後的律法廢掉，叫應許歸於虛空。
