Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision( though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.

Moses gave you circumcision, and so you circumcise a child on the Sabbath day. But circumcision did not really come from Moses. It came from Abraham.

But you work on the Sabbath, too, when you obey Moses’ law of circumcision.( Actually, this tradition of circumcision began with the patriarchs, long before the law of Moses.)

第八天，嬰兒要接受割禮。

你們所有的男子都要受割禮，這是我與你和你的子孫所立的約，你們要遵守。你們都要割包皮，作為我與你們立約的記號。你們世世代代的男子在出生後的第八日都要接受割禮。在你家裡出生的和用錢從外族人那裡買來的奴僕也要受割禮。不論是在你家裡生的，還是你用錢買來的男子，都要接受割禮，這樣你們的肉體上就有我永恆之約的記號。任何沒有接受割禮的男子，要將他從民中剷除，因為他違背了我的約。」

那麼，這種福分只給受割禮的人嗎？還是也給沒有受割禮的人呢？因為我們說，亞伯拉罕信上帝，就被算為義人。他究竟是怎麼被算為義人的呢？是他受割禮以前呢？還是以後呢？不是以後，而是以前。他後來受割禮只不過是一個記號，表明他在受割禮前已經因信而被稱為義人了。他因此成為一切未受割禮的信徒之父，使這些人也可以被算為義人。

我的意思是：四百三十年後頒佈的律法不會廢除上帝先前立下的約，以致應許落空。
