Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

Whoever speaks on their own does it to get personal honor. But someone who works for the honor of the one who sent him is truthful. Nothing about him is false.

The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

予非求榮於人也；

是故飲食舉止、皆須以天主之光榮為前提。無論對猶太人、或希臘人、或聖教同人、皆須小心謹慎、莫為厲階。吾本人之所以和光同塵、舍己從人者、亦欲感化眾人、誘其歸主而已矣。

耶穌聞訊、答使者曰：『斯病不致於死、惟以榮天主、亦以顯揚天主子。』

耶穌曰：『予不附魔、惟尊聖父、而爾則辱予、顧予不求己榮、自有審判者欲賜予以榮。

人之欲以形體之事眩世、而強爾受割禮者、其惟一動機、乃欲避免為基督十字架而被擯於世耳。蓋若輩雖受割禮、自身亦何嘗遵守禮法。其所以欲爾同受割禮者、惟欲借爾之形體、為彼炫耀之資耳。吾則異於是、吾所誇者、惟在吾主耶穌基督之十字聖架而已。因此、世之與我已互釘於十字聖架之上、而恝然相遺矣。

凡任宣講者、當講述聖道、一若為天主之舌人者；其任服務者、則當依天主所賦之才力、儘量貢獻。總之、任作何事、務求以耶穌基督之名、歸榮天主。但願天主享受光榮與德能、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

毋分黨派、毋爭虛榮；謙卑自牧、先人後己；毋各自為謀、當休戚相關、而和衷共濟也。爾等宜以基督耶穌之心為心。

禱時宜曰：在天我儕父、祝爾聖名芳。

因共謁如望曰：『夫子曩在約但河外、所為作證者、今亦授洗、人盡趨之。』如望應曰：『苟非自天授之、人亦何所受乎？予非基督、乃奉使為其前驅者耳。此乃予所夙言、爾曹當可為予作證。夫人娶婦而為新壻、新壻之友立而待之、聞其音則洋洋而喜。今者吾樂之沛然充溢、亦復如是。彼當日益、我宜日損。

父乎、其光榮爾名！』時有音發自天上曰：『吾已榮之、將復榮之。』

及其既出、耶穌乃曰：『今人子受榮、而天主亦因人子而受榮焉。天主既因人子而受榮天主亦必以己之榮榮之、而榮之即在目前、

我輩身充基督宗徒、不為不貴、然亦未嘗儼然自尊、求榮於爾、或求榮於人、

耶穌曰：『予若自榮、亦何榮之有？榮予者吾父也！吾父非他、即爾自言為爾天主者是。

予在地上、已歸榮於父、父所委予之使命、已告圓滿；今求吾父、賜予偕享創世前與父共有之榮！
