Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

Here is how someone can find out whether my teaching comes from God or from me. That person must choose to do what God wants them to do.

Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him,“ If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciplesand you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Why don’t you understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot accept my teaching.

The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live.

The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live.May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way!

I stay away from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions.I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me.

Therefore let those of us who are“ perfect” embrace this point of view. If you think otherwise, God will reveal to you the error of your ways.Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard that we have already attained.

The one who belongs to God listens and responds to God’s words. You don’t listen and respond, because you don’t belong to God.”

Many will be purified, made clean, and refined, but the wicked will go on being wicked. None of the wicked will understand, though the wise will understand.

These Jews were more open- minded than those in Thessalonica, for they eagerly received the message, examining the scriptures carefully every day to see if these things were so.

Many nations will come, saying,“ Come on! Let’s go up to the LORD’s mountain, to the temple of Jacob’s God, so he can teach us his commands and we can live by his laws.” For Zion will be the source of instruction; the LORD’s teachings will proceed from Jerusalem.

“ But I will make a new covenant with the whole nation of Israel after I plant them back in the land,” says the LORD.“ I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be my people.“ People will no longer need to teach their neighbors and relatives to know me. For all of them, from the least important to the most important, will know me,” says the LORD.“ For I will forgive their sin and will no longer call to mind the wrong they have done.”

But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearing the word, cling to it with an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance.

With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands!

But for you who respect my name, the sun of vindication will rise with healing wings, and you will skip about like calves released from the stall.

The LORD’s loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them.

A thoroughfare will be there– it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it; it is reserved for those authorized to use it– fools will not stray into it.

So let us acknowledge him! Let us seek to acknowledge the LORD! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.”

Now there was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort.He was a devout, God- fearing man, as was all his household; he did many acts of charity for the people and prayed to God regularly.About three o’clock one afternoon he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him,“ Cornelius.”Staring at him and becoming greatly afraid, Cornelius replied,“ What is it, Lord?” The angel said to him,“ Your prayers and your acts of charity have gone up as a memorial before God.Now send men to Joppa and summon a man named Simon, who is called Peter.This man is staying as a guest with a man named Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
